Nordic walking has become very popular and is a particularly good form

your upper body muscles and in doing so helps to burn more calories

Secondly using your poles when walking is benificial from that fact
that it takes a lot of stress off your knees and hips. This can be a
extremely benefical for overweight people who find that their joints
have taken quite a bit of hammering from walking on any surface due to
their weight.
